The PCEA was started in Charlotte, NC in 1956 and is currently a regional association serving the Southeastern United States. There are 13 chapters with approximately 1,000 total members.

The chapters are as follows:

Virginia - Central Virginia, Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach, Norfolk area), Roanoke and Lynchburg

North Carolina - Charlotte, Catawba Valley (Hickory), Fayetteville, Costal Plains (Greenville), Triangle (Raleigh), and Triad (Greensboro)

South Carolina - Columbia and Piedmont (Greenville)

Georgia - Central Savannah

Florida - Orlando

The association is making plans to add more chapters in the Southeast. Expansion outside the region is slated for the future.
